Linksys Turns to Eco-Friendly Packaging PDF Print E-mail
Written by GreenICT

Today, companies are more concerned about ways to reduce waste as well as save resources. Linksys, the leading VoIP provider, has announced they will be enhancing their efforts to reduce waste by introducing eco-friendly packaging. In addition, Linksys has received Energy Star certified ratings on their power adapters.

What is Involved in Green Packaging?

  • Linksys will remove the outer packaging or sleeve and replace it by printing information about the product on the actual box. This will reduce extra packaging material.

  • Linksys will reduce the size of the box in which products are delivered.

  • Eco-friendly inks, produced from soy and vegetable, will be used to print on recycled paper for internal documents and packaging items.

  • Whenever possible, the use of plastic bags will be eliminated.

  • Internal packaging will be transitioned to bio-degradable and recyclable materials.

These transitions to eco-friendly packaging will result in a 40% reduction of waste materials. To put matters into a more down to earth perspective, these changes are the equivalent of saving nearly 800 acres of forest trees per year and removing 3,000 vehicles from the road each year.

Linksys has rolled out their eco-friendly packaging through online retailers as well as through specific Australian retailers. In looking toward the future, Linksys will continue evaluating ways in which more environmentally responsible practices can lead to a better environment.
